"Archives & Authorship" at the Organization for Islamic Learning
November 5, 2024
Join Muslims in Canada Archives (MiCA) archivist Mitra Fakhrashrafi for a talk on the relationship between archives, authorship, and Muslim self-representation. Mitra will take focus on MiCA’s extensive — but still far from exhaustive — collection of print publications to consider how Muslims in Canada used print to foster connectivity and claim authorship of their narratives.
This talk will be followed by an introduction to the newly launched Muslims in Canada Archives database of newly digitized archival records. This new platform is a research and exploration tool that offers unprecedented access to the diverse stories of Muslim communities across the country. We will do a walk through of the website and then, together, we will search questions of interest.
When: Saturday November 16, 2PM
Where: Jaffari Community Center, 9000 Bathurst Street, Thornhill, On L4J8A7
